A Day's Guide to St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands Exploration

Do not worry about how to make the most of your time off the ship if you are sailing the Caribbean and have only one day to spend in St. Thomas. I'll walk you through how to make the most of those valuable hours between sunrise and late afternoon so you may have a satisfying exploration trip with a St. Thomas boat charter.

A Look Inside the Carnival Cruise

We decided to take a 7-day Southern Caribbean cruise that left from San Juan, Puerto Rico, for our maiden cruise. It turned out to be the most economical way to see five Caribbean islands in a week after extensive investigation. These cruises transport you to places like St. Thomas, St. Lucia, St. Kitts & Nevis, Barbados, and Sint Maarten, depending on the route. Although the aboard accommodations, meals, and transportation are convenient, the little time allocated for each island visitation is a drawback. However, a cruise is a good option if your goal is to get a peek of island life.

Advice on Getting the Most Out of Every Day

My main recommendation is to disembark as early as possible in order to make the most of your day ashore. Start your adventures off right with a delicious breakfast and witness the dawn. It is important to keep in mind that the cruise ship won't wait for tardiness, so arrange your activities in order of distance, making sure you return to the port well in advance of the scheduled departure time. Accept that you cannot see everything on your day at sea, but take advantage of the chance to determine if a follow-up visit is necessary.

Perspectives on St. Thomas

It's important to note a few fascinating facts about St. Thomas before exploring the plethora of things this island has to offer. U.S. Virgin Islands is the name given to one of the three main U.S. Virgin Islands (the other being Puerto Rico), St. Thomas, because it is an unincorporated territory of the United States. Originally a Danish colony, it was acquired by the United States in 1917, and Charlotte Amalie became its capital.

Things You Must Have for Your Day Trip

When disembarking, make sure you have the following necessities, depending on your itinerary:

  • necessary paperwork, particularly identification when buying alcohol

  • Enough money in US dollars

  • Using a phone and camera to record memories

  • cosy shoes

  • Use sunscreen to keep your skin safe.

  • Sunglasses to protect your eyes

  • Water bottle for sustainability and hydration

  • For beach trips, include swimwear, a quick-dry towel,

and waterproof containers for wet stuff.

  • A portable phone charger for security and ease of use

  • For erratic weather, a lightweight rain jacket or umbrella

Final Words on the St. Thomas Exploration

One day at St. Thomas was more than enough to make you fall in love with the island. I'm looking forward to going back in the future and experiencing its stunning scenery and immaculate beaches in more detail, perhaps even exploring the surrounding waters with USVI and BVI Boat Charters.
